Annual Museum Day is September 21

Select museums in St. Joseph are participating in the annual Museum Day offering free admission to the public on September 21. Created by the Smithsonian Magazine to celebrate curiosity and ongoing education which Public Relations Officer for St. Joseph Museum, Kathy Reno, says inspired St. Joseph to follow suit.

"I had heard about it as other museums had.  And I said why don't we just do this citywide in our town.  Everybody seemed very enthusiastic.  That's how it all started.  And now we've been more years than I think any of us can remember."

Reno says that many museums will feature special exhibits like The Great Flood of 1993 displayed at the St. Joseph Museum.

"This one is focused basically on what the flooding did in that era and how it changed the region.  Some of the things that happened during that time still impact our area today - what businesses are here, how we handle flooding, how we handle that kind of thing."
